I remember first playing this game as a kid when I got one of those 99+ Computer Games thing you can still find at Wal-Mart. The game's included were actually pretty alright--games like Crazy Drake and Eggbert.
Safari Kongo was a part of the collection as well, but unlike the other games it had only the first three levels.
Around that time I had been introduced to the original Arcade Donkey Kong, and I wrote Nintendo frequently in a letter campaign to make a new, 3D DK Arcade game for the N64. Nintendo always enthusiastically responded, but they never made that game.
But when I discovered Safari Kongo, I thought it was neat--not good by any means; serviceable. But neat all the same.
Anyone else ever play this game? The music is alright.

Found this youtube video This the game you're talking about? Yup. Have you never played it/heard of it? It's a silly game--fun though--but one other cool thing I remember now is that you can be either the girl or the guy and you rescue the person you don't pick.

I've never played it myself, but I think I remember running across either this or a similar video while researching Congo Bongo. Looks simple, but entertaining.
