I hope everyone in the states has a wonderful day. And everyone not in the states too for that matter

Oh man I didn't even know that was a thing. Someone should go homebrew a DK's Fun With Music to work with that.

In that respect, you're probably right. I've heard rumblings that NST is being converted into Nintendo's in-house mobile studio, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Mario vs Donkey Kong on phones, rather than the Switch.

It's been really close to happening a few times now actually. Party Monkies from Jungle Beat almost made it in as an NPC race in Mario Galaxy, for instance. Though I do generally agree with you, the prospects seem grim.

Yeah she missed out on her playable debut by a year! So close! She'd still get playable status the following year in Family BASIC, and star in her own title the year after, Ladies Golf. Still though, would have been interesting to see her in this one, wielding the famous hammer.
Also interesting to note is that DK's involvement with rhythm games started back in 1983, so the resurgence of the concept later should come as little surprise, seeing how Miyamoto likes to revisit ideas every decade or so.

Nice video, a few years out, covering the unreleased Fun With Music title that we never got.
Interesting to see what could have been an early foray into rhythm gaming for our big ape.

I'm personally very fond of the Mario Golf for the Nintendo 64.
I'm interested to hear what others' picks are though.

Now that the Switch is confirmed to be touch-screen-free, how do you think the Mario vs Donkey Kong series will move forward?
Personally, I'm hoping they do a bit of a return to the original Mario vs Donkey Kong formula, and have the minis following Mario around as you platform through the levels.

In some sort of ensemble game, or just, like, an Arcade Era comic or something. The original characters created for the first handful of Mario Golf titles, N64, GBC, mobile, etc, would be a good way to fill out the Arcade Era cast. Their early art gells really well with DK'94's, and they don't look out of place next to Mario, Pauline, Spike, and DK at all.

We sort of tangentially pay attention to Baby DK, should DKGirder also follow Baby Mario, as a "pre-SMB" Mario entity, or would he fall squarely into "post-SMB" territory, due to real world circumstances?
I'm not even sure following Baby Mario would even add a whole lot of games to the stable, beyond Yoshi's Island 1 and maybe a sports title or two.
