I will certainly agree that The Boss is a rough fucking fight

So apparently in this game you don't automatically rematch new challengers if you lose against them. So I'm guessing that means I can leave Dr. Mario locked away forever, if I want? Because that would be great.
Also, does anyone know if the game saves which color/costume you set your character to, or does it reset to the default every time? And what about if you stack echo fighters? If I stack Dark Samus on top of Samus, for instance, and select Dark Samus, will it make Dark Samus primary in that slot or will it revert to regular Samus when I leave and come back?

^Unfortunately the default is always the default in both cases.
So I unlocked the Dixie hat and made a Mii Brawler of her. It's...not that bad. I haven't attached her Spirit to it yet, but once I do, I'll be canonically playing as Dixie Kong in Smash!

Aw, that's lame. But thanks for letting me know.
I never really considered the fact that without custom moves, there would be no custom slots like in Smash 4, so I guess even that little shortcut is gone for selecting specific colors/costumes.

Have been greatly enjoying the game! I found a way to cheese the Pauline fight using a Drill item (Muddy Mole spirit has it) so that one ended up being not too bad. The hardest Spirit Battle so far has been Dr. Wily for me. All of the spirit battles are actually crafted with a lot of thought. It makes me want to know what some of the more obscure ones are all about, honestly, because I'm sure if I was a fan of some of the obscure stuff they're based on I'd really like them. World of Light is cool, but I'll say oddly enough more than the Spirit Battles in it, I'm really impressed by how lovingly-crafted the overworld design is. It's stunning graphically even being just a 2D plane and seeing certain set pieces is really great.
Also the Buzz Buzz spirit battle is really great. Some of the "joke" spirit battles have been legitimately hilarious at points. I could see myself replaying it in a couple years, which is probably a good sign for a single player campaign; the skill tree makes things a little too easy though and I'm glad you can disable it. Also I didn't have much trouble with The Boss, I just played it as an aerial battle, hanging on the edge and kinda tricking her into trying to jump after me til I could get her to SD.
